The Children, Young People and Families Special Interest Group (CYF SIG) was launched at the IFIC International Conference on Integrated Care (ICIC18) in Utrecht in May 2018 as a response to the need to bring together health, education and social care researchers and professionals who are interested in aspects of integrated health and social care as it applies to children, young people and their families.
Since the launch, the CYF SIG membership base has grown to approximately 100 members from 19 countries, and a cross-sectorial and interprofessional reach. There have now been face-to-face CYF SIG meetings at every IFIC conference since, where delegates come together to discuss the children, young people and families integrated care agenda.
The CYF SIG has successfully established conference abstract streams dedicated to integrated care for children, young people and families inclusive of and since IFIC ICIC19 and are proud to see a steady increase in the abstracts related to children, young people and families submitted to IFIC conferences since the SIG was launched.
Most recently, the CYF SIG has supported a sub-group of members of the CYF SIG interested particularly in the health and education interface, to connect with the School-Based Health Alliance Australia, a subsidiary of the School-Based Health Alliance based in the United States of America. The School-Based Health Alliance is a voice for school-based health care in the Australian context and play a vital role at the intersection of education and health care. Their key aims are to provide advice, high quality resources, advocate for and advance the need for integrating health and education in order to support the health and wellbeing of school aged children and young people. To get involved with the School-Based Health Alliance in Australia, contact the Chair, Jon Lituri at firstname.lastname@example.org, who is also a member of the CYF SIG.
If you’re heading to the IFIC APIC2 in Melbourne in November, come along to the CYF SIG Meeting to find out the future of the CYF SIG at 1pm – 2pm on Tuesday, 12 November 2019.
