We are very pleased that the 2nd Asia Pacific Conference on Integrated Care will take place in the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, Australia, from 11-13 November 2019. With the overarching theme ‘Achieving better value for people and populations’ the conference is a partnership of IFIC Australia, the Department of Health and Human Services – Victoria, The University of Newcastle, Centre for Rural & Remote Mental Health, Children’s Health Queensland, Central Coast Local Health District, The Australian Healthcare and Hospitals Association (AHHA), Health Justice Australia and the Health Issues Centre. The conference will bring together researchers, clinicians and managers from around the world who are engaged in the design and delivery of integrated health and social care.

APIC2 welcomes consumers participation
The Australian Consumer Health Forum (ACF) has granted APIC2 the #withconsumers tick.
The ACF advocates for safe, good quality, timely healthcare. ACF works with governments and health providers to ensure that health reforms are designed around the health needs of consumers through the engagement of consumers in policy and program design.

Prof John Allan
Executive Director
Mental Health Alcohol and other Drugs Branch
Queensland Health
John completed his medical training and PhD in Queensland and his psychiatry training in Adelaide.
John is the Executive Director of Mental Health Alcohol and other Drugs Branch in Queensland Health. He has previously been Chief Psychiatrist in both Queensland and New South Wales. He spent twenty years working in North Queensland where he developed a wide range of new mental health services. He is highly experienced in leadership, government policy, mental health legislation and service development.
His clinical interests include the mental health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and comprehensive care for those with serious mental illness. His current research and policy interests focus on mental health reform, clinical service improvement, reduction in restrictive practices, human rights, recovery-oriented practice and smoking reduction strategies.
In May 2019 he assumed the role of President of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and has been a member of the RANZCP Board since 2015. He has previously chaired RANZCP committees in education, governance and finance.
Serena Joyner
Consumer Engagement Manager
Health Consumers NSW
Serena Joyner is the Consumer Engagement Manager at Health Consumers NSW. An experienced facilitator and project manager with a Master of Social Research (ANU), Serena collaborates with health services to help build and strengthen their engagement programs.
Serena developed the HCNSW-WentWest Consumer and Community Engagement Model as a tool for health services to support building sustainable and effective engagement programs. Serena has over ten years’ experience in mentoring health staff to work with consumers, building infrastructure and systems. She has also worked directly with health consumer representatives in their work to lead implementation of engagement programs across health organisations.
Serena brings a cross-disciplinary background of process engineering and knowledge management to help health staff break down barriers for consumers to participate in health on a level playing field.
Dr Zoe Wainer
Head of Public Health and Medical Director
Bupa Australia and New Zealand
Dr Zoe Wainer is the Head of Public Health and Medical Director at Bupa Australia and New Zealand, Chair of the Board of Dental Health Services Victoria and a Director on the Board of the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation.
Her passion and expertise in public health has driven formal and informal collaborations with the ICHOM and Harvard Business School in value based health care across multiple organisations and she has a continued advocacy focus on the importance of sex differences across health from basic research to health systems implications.
Zoe holds a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from Flinders University, and has a clinical background in cardiothoracic surgery and thoracic surgical oncology. She has a PhD and a Masters of Public Health from The University of Melbourne and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Kym Peake
Secretary
Victorian Department of Health and Human Services
Kym Peake commenced as Secretary of the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services in November 2015. Kym has extensive experience in both state and Commonwealth Government, including as Deputy Secretary, Higher Education and Skills Group at the Victorian Department of Education and Training, Deputy Secretary Governance Policy and Coordination at the Victorian Department of Premier and Cabinet and Executive Director, Productivity and Inclusion at the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet.
Kym possesses an Executive Master of Public Administration, a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) and a Bachelor of Laws, all from the University of Melbourne.
Kym is also the President of the Institute of Public Administration Australia (Victoria).
Dr Andrew Montague

Central Coast Local Health District
Dr Andrew Montague has been Chief Executive Central Coast Local Health District since August 2016 and has extensive clinical and senior management experience within the health sector in both QLD and NSW.
Dr Montague studied medicine at the University of New South Wales and has a Masters in Health Administration from the University of New South Wales. He is a fellow of both the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators. He has held the roles of Director of Medical Services, Mercy Health and Aged Care Central Queensland; Deputy Director of Medical Services, Royal North Shore Hospital; Director of Medical Services Northern Beaches Health Service and Director Operations, Northern Sydney Local Health District.

Please ensure you check-in to the Speaker Preparation Room at least 2 hours prior to your session. Details regarding the location of the Speakers Preparation room will be available via the General Information which will be sent out prior to the conference.
Presentation time
ORAL PAPER: You have a maximum of 15 minutes to formally present your paper (maximum 10 slides), please stick to this timing to allow time for questions and discussion at the end. A total of 20 minutes has been allowed for each presentation: 15 minutes for presentation and 5 minutes for questions. Questions will be taken immediately after your presentation or jointly with the other speakers at the end of the session. This will be agreed in advance with your chairperson. If you are an Oral Presentation who has been allocated time within a workshop, please note that the workshop leader will be in touch to discuss how the session will run but you can expect to be allowed 15 minutes to present your work.
ORAL POSTER: You have a maximum of 5 minutes to formally present your poster during an Oral Poster Walk. There is no time allocated for questions.
WORKSHOP: If you are the only paper assigned to the workshop, you may choose your own format within the time allowed. We recommend limiting your presentation time to 20 minutes to allow lots of time for interactivity and discussion. Many workshop style submissions have been grouped appropriately on the programme due to similarities and/or synergies. Those who appear in a workshop with other submissions should note that a workshop leader will be assigned and will be in touch to discuss how the session will run but you can expect to be allowed at least 15 minutes to present your work.

Posters can be put up from 7.30am and are to be in-place by 10.45am on Monday 11 November 2019. Posters will be displayed for the duration of the conference in the exhibition area, Level 1, Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Posters should be printed in AO Portrait (1,189mm high x 841mm wide). Presenters are required to bring their own hook-and-loop velcro for attachment to the board (double sided tape or blu tack are not suitable). Posters must be presented and displayed in English.

Dr Nick Goodwin
CEO
International Foundation for Integrated Care (IFIC)
Nick was the co-Founder of IFIC in October 2011 and became its first Chief Executive Officer in March 2013. Nick is also the Editor-in-Chief of IFIC’s open-access and impact rated scientific periodical the International Journal of Integrated Care.
Nick holds a range of research, educational and consultation roles worldwide. These international commitments include several European R&D projects such as the EU FP7 Project INTEGRATE, the Horizon 2020 project SUSTAIN and the ICT-PSP projects SMARTCARE, BEYOND SILOS, and CAREWELL. Nick is an active member of the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing B3 Action Group on Integrated Care. Nick has also been working with the World Health Organisation to support the development of its Global Strategy on People-Centred Integrated Health Services and is on the Expert Advisory Team to WHO Regional Office for Europe’s Framework for Action Towards Coordinated/Integrated Health Services Delivery (CIHSD) leading work related to change management and adoption of integrated care in policy and practice.
Over the past year, Nick has also worked as an international consultant to the Agency for Integrated Care, Singapore; the Pan American Health Organisation, Washington; the WHO’s Western Pacific Regional Office; and to NHS England’s Better Care Fund Support Programme. In previous roles, Nick worked as a Senior Fellow at the King’s Fund (2007-2013) leading key work on integrated health and social care as well as a two-year Inquiry into the quality of care in English general practice. Nick has also worked as a Senior Lecturer at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (2003-2007) where he directed MSc and DrPH courses and worked as a lead academic for the National Institute for Health Research commissioning key studies into the service delivery and organisation of health care. In January 2016, Nick received the Avedis Donabedian International Award for his contribution to Healthcare Excellence and Integrated Health and Social Care.
Fiona Lyne
Director of Communications
International Foundation for Integrated Care (IFIC)
In 2014, Fiona joined the International Foundation for Integrated Care as Director of Communications. Fiona is responsible for developing the overall brand, marketing and communication strategy for the Foundation including membership development. She leads on various projects including Project INTEGRATE, the Annual International Integrated Care Conference Series and the World Congresses.
Fiona has worked in public policy communications since 2003. She began her career as a community stakeholder engagement manager at Fingal County Council in North Dublin supporting the local Community and Voluntary Forum to have an impact on local decision-making bodies. She went on to hold various project co-ordination and communication roles in both the public and private sector including periods with NHS North West London and the Royal Society of Arts.
In 2010 she joined the King’s Fund, an internationally renowned healthcare policy think tank, as Head of Events and in subsequent years was responsible for moving the Fund into a leading position in the healthcare conference market. Fiona has a BA in Politics and Economics from the University of Limerick, an MA in Community Development and Stakeholder Engagement from the National University of Ireland, Galway and a Diploma in Management from the Dublin Business School.
Professor David Perkins

The University of Newcastle (UON)
Professor David Perkins is Director of the Centre for Rural and Remote Mental Health, University of Newcastle which is based in Orange, NSW. He has held academic positions in Australia and the UK and was a senior NHS manager.
He is co-director of the International Foundation for Integrated Care Australia and a member of the international IFIC Board. An active researcher, he is an editor of the International Journal of Integrated Care and a past Editor-in-Chief of the Australian Journal of Rural Health. He is a member of a number of national and state advisory bodies on rural mental health and wellbeing.
Dr Hazel Dalton

Dr Dalton is the Research Leader and Senior Research Fellow (Executive) at the University of Newcastle’s Centre for Rural and Remote Mental Health, based in Orange, New South Wales. She manages research across mental health promotion (including the Rural Adversity Mental Health Program), innovation in mental health service provision (including integrated care) and rural suicide prevention.
Hazel is a Facilitator for the International Foundation for Integrated Care (IFIC) Australia, playing a key role in the advancement of integrated care in Australia. Hazel is interested in translational research, communication of research more broadly and providing evidence to support programs and inform policy. Hazel has extensive research experience across university and health sectors, with skills in conceptual modelling, quantitative and qualitative research approaches.
Lucy McEvoy

Lucy McEvoy works as a Research Assistant at the University of Newcastle’s Centre for Rural and Remote Mental Health and co-ordinates the Australian Chapter of the International Foundation for Integrated Care. Lucy has over 10 years experience working in qualitative research across areas such as stroke, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis and mental health.
Tanya Sewards

Tanya is a Manager in the Funding Policy and System Integration team in the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services. Tanya has oversight of the HealthLinks: Chronic Care initiative which is trialling the use of alternative funding arrangements that seek to improve the integration of healthcare across hospital services, primary and community care and social care.
Tanya’s work also includes identification of strategic opportunities and mechanisms to increase integration of services. Previous roles across the department have been in the portfolios areas of mental health and drugs workforce, rural health, emergency medicine and housing. Tanya has also held roles in other Victorian government departments including the Departments of Education, Justice, Premier and Cabinet and Economic Development and has worked in research and consultancy services advising government across a range of policy areas. Tanya holds an Masters in Public Policy and an Arts degree.

Kristel is a Manager in the Funding Policy and System Integration Unit of the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services. Kristel has extensive experience as a clinician, project manager and strategic adviser across Victorian health services and government, and has worked across the acute, community and primary care sector. Kristel is responsible for seeing health reforms through from conceptual development to implementation and evaluation.
Kristel’s previous roles in the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services have been in National Health Reform, Continuing Care and Complex Care. Other previous roles have been with Victorian health services, the Primary Health Networks and the United Kingdom’s National Health Service
Frank Tracey
Executive Director, Clinical Services

Frank has more than 30 years’ experience working in health systems. This experience includes most recently holding the position of General Manager Operations and Acting Director, Clinical Support Services at the Auckland District Health Board. Frank has a background in nursing and holds advanced qualifications in both health and management.
His extensive experience in health commissioning and provision in clinical and community settings is complemented by strong managerial and leadership skills, and an applied interest in translational health research. While working in both government and non-government roles Frank has focused on delivering sustainable health strategies that serve the best interests of patients, health professionals, the broader health system and the community.
Danny Vadasz

Danny Vadasz brings a fresh non-clinical perspective to the challenges of health reform and the role of consumers in shaping change. His current career as CEO of leading health consumer advocacy organisation, the Health issues Centre, continues a lifetime of community and consumer engagement practice across the education, environmental, human rights and local government sectors as well as in the consumer goods industry.
