24th International Conference on Integrated Care

The 24th International Conference on Integrated Care (ICIC24) in partnership with IFIC Ireland and the International Journal of Integrated Care (IJIC) and supported by the Department of Health, Northern Ireland and Visit Belfast will take place in ICC Belfast on 22-24 April 2024, with the overarching theme ‘Taking the leap: making integrated care a reality for people and communities’, the conference will bring together leaders, researchers, clinicians, managers, community representatives, patients and caregivers from around the world who are engaged in the design and delivery of integrated health and care.

Right now Northern Ireland is going through a transformative change in the movement towards an integrated care approach to the planning, management and delivery of health and care services. A new Integrated Care System (ICS) model in Northern Ireland (NI) is being developed which will transform the existing commissioning arrangements and processes. As many regions make this shift towards new models of care, that are people-centred and community-driven, this conference offers the opportunity to learn from the experience of others, reflect on change, and celebrate the shift forward in the movement to provide more co-ordinated, person-centred care for people and communities all around the world.

Abstract Submission

The scientific committee for this conference has been established from international experts who are leading in the field of Integrated Care, and they are accepting paper submission on research, policy, practice or education and specifically relating to the 9 Pillars of Integrated Care until Friday, 24th November. The full abstract should be limited to 500 words. All abstract will be published in the International Journal for Integrated Care (Impact Factor 2.913). Abstract Guidelines are available to download below.

Special consideration is given to papers that can demonstrate active people involvement in either or all of design, implementation and evaluation!
Each abstract submitter is asked to choose one of the 9 Pillars that their paper is most relevant to, understanding there will be overlap. This system will enable the programme committee and Special Interest Group leads, to group papers together in a way that works best for delegates to navigate the programme and maximize the learning opportunities.
The full abstract should be limited to 500 words.

Patients Included

ICIC24 is co-designed with patients and caregivers and achieves Patients Included designation. Special consideration is given to papers that demonstrate active people involvement and engagement in either or all of design, implementation and evaluation. Patient and Caregivers attend the conference for free, but we cannot cover accommodation and travel costs. We encourage papers from patient and caregivers, but also suggest that health and care researchers and practitioners should encourage patient and caregiver partners to co-present where appropriate and fund travel and accommodation costs if possible.

Scientific Committee

The Scientific Committee is the regular advisory committee that oversees the development of the programme and ensures that it balances scientific, policy and practical knowledge and meets the expectations of the members of Integrated Care community and related professional networks.

The Scientific Committee for this conference is formed from almost 50 international experts, policy makers and patient representatives from all over the world and is coordinated by Dr Edelweiss Aldasoro. These Integrated Care experts are part of IFIC’s global network and are a key driver of the movement for change. Scientific Committee members are involved in our Hub’s, SIG’s, ERPIC and other work. We are very grateful for their continued support.
