ISQua and IHF Virtual Conference – Hospital Workers’ Wellbeing Matters

Hospital Workers’ Wellbeing Matters
ISQua and IHF are collaborating for this virtual event to provide our members and the wider community a global perspective on healthcare workers’ wellbeing and an opportunity to hear innovative interventions from healthcare leaders. This event will also give participants the opportunity to share their experiences, ideas and challenges and to learn about solutions from other industries.
The COVID-19 pandemic is having a major toll on people’s wellbeing worldwide, as they are having to face challenges such as social distancing, loneliness, and the threat of deadly infectious disease outbreaks. For hospital workers and other health service providers, these challenges and the additional stress of working in a prolonged “crisis situation” have increased documented mental health problems.
As the pandemic progresses, the current and projected scale of distress among healthcare workers is alarming. It is widely recognized that healthcare professionals need enhanced support to help mitigate the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on their current and future wellbeing.
This problem has mobilized various organizations at both national and international levels to provide guidelines and recommendations to prevent mental health problems and improve wellbeing. For example, the Department of Mental Health and Substance Use of the World Health Organization published the “Mental health and psychosocial considerations during the COVID-19 outbreak”.
