In the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, discussions, that initially focused primarily on the protection of older people, have increasingly focused on the rights of older people both at national and international level. This deserves all the more attention since older people are the population group most affected by the pandemic.

In 2017, the Lisbon UNECE Ministerial Declaration “A Sustainable Society for All Ages: Realizing the potential of living longer” set an important milestone in the discussion about the rights of older people at European level. The recent developments encourage us to take up and deepen this thread during the German EU Presidency.

The German Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth, AGE Platform Europe and BAGSO (German National Association of Senior Citizens’ Organisations) are pleased to invite you to a jointly organised online conference

“Strengthening Older People’s Rights in Times of Digitalisation – Lessons learned from Covid-19” will take place on:

Monday, 28th of September 2020, 1.30 p.m. – 4.00 p.m. and

Tuesday, 29th of September 2020, 9.30 a.m. – 12.30 p.m.

The COVID-19 pandemic has shown that digitalisation offers great opportunities for participation and self-determined life in old age, especially under difficult circumstances. The online conference with high ranking speakers, therefore focuses on strengthening of older people’s rights in times of digitalisation. Conference languages will be German, English and French. We hope to have aroused your interest in the topic.

Be sure to participate in the conference and look forward to constructive and inspiring exchanges and discussions.
