Biography

David graduated from the University of Newcastle Australia medical program in 1985, became a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists in 1992, and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2015. He has 30 years of experience as a clinician in psychiatry, and as an educator – teaching, training and supervising medical students, junior medical officers, psychiatry trainees, general practitioners, postgraduate researchers, and nursing staff and allied health practitioners. David is currently a Senior Staff Specialist and Clinical Lead in Older People’s Mental Health at St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney; and Associate Professor, Discipline of Psychiatry, the University of Notre Dame Australia, Sydney. He has published nationally and internationally on healthy brain ageing, education and training in psychiatry, older adult mental health service delivery models, cognitive impairment, dementia, depression, and psychosis in old age, and in homelessness and rural outreach services.
