Biography

Edelweiss Aldasoro is a qualified medical doctor who is devoted to the continuous improvement of care, delivery quality and experience for all. She joined IFIC in 2018 as a Senior Researcher to contribute to the evidence creation, knowledge sharing, and adoption of integrated care. She is involved in a number of research and evaluation projects, including EU-funded research projects looking at innovative solutions to deliver person-centred integrated care. In her role as the Faculty Lead of the Integrated Care Academy, she supports education and training activities at the Foundation and in collaboration with other organisations. She is also one of the editors-in-chief of the International Journal of Integrated Care (IJIC).

She is passionate about designing and developing approaches to integrated care and access to care for all people, with special focus on neglected communities and complex conditions. Before joining IFIC, she worked as a clinician and researcher in global health and neglected tropical diseases, rare diseases, multi-morbidity and aging.

As a qualified doctor, she has specialised in General Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases. She has postgraduate qualifications in both Health Research Methodology and Development, Globalisation and International Cooperation, an MSc in Epidemiology and a PhD in Translational Medicine in the International Health track.
