Biography

Dr. Pérez-Hernández is a highly qualified and experienced doctor with both national and international experience in comprehensive healthcare services. He holds a medical degree from the Metropolitan Autonomous University (Mexico), an MSc of Global Health from the University of Barcelona (Spain) and postgraduate training on Health Management and Integrated Medicine.

He has served during the last decade at the Ministry of Health of Mexico as a clinician and manager. In his current position as Senior Consultant in Prevention and Control, his experience includes developing, implementing, managing, and evaluating Non-Communicable Diseases, emergencies and disasters programs. He was also named Honorary Professor of Integrated Medicine at the Faculty of Health Science of Anahuac University (Mexico). With both professional and academic awards to his title, he has spoken at conferences, contributed to publications and taught in the Americas and Europe.

At the international level, he has gained experience in multicultural environments working and collaborating with several organizations, institutions, and governments. Dr. Pérez-Hernández has also worked with the Pan-American Health Organization/World Health Organization providing technical cooperation on different projects including consultations on chronic care, integrated and people-centered services, and universal health.

He is an Associate Editor of the International Journal of Integrated Care (IJIC). Currently, he is dedicated to creating collaboration networks on integrated and people-centered care in Latin America. From Dr. Pérez-Hernández’s vision integrated care is a powerful tool against health inequities special in developing countries and a key strategy in our aspiration of 2030 health agenda on universal health for all.
