Integrated Community Care Expert and Consultant
Nieves has over ten years’ experience consulting with a focus on health services planning, redesign and improvement. With a master’s degree in health services management from the University of Otago in New Zealand, she is a firm believer that wellbeing is rooted in communities and that the key to addressing the social determinants of health and to reducing inequities, is to take systems thinking approaches and to co-produce services with communities, creating new partnerships across sectors. She is interested in the intersection between health and other disciplines and in the past couple of years she has been involved in a wide range of projects including evaluations of integrated care initiatives and researching innovative integrated community care practices from around the world to understand how to enable their spread and sustainability. She is also involved in the development of a Latin American Regional Hub to promote integrated care in the region.
